Hope Lurain (Hudson) Graham, age 89, longtime resident of the Outlook-Liberty Community passed away Tuesday, November 4, 2008 in Yakima, WA. Hope was born October 31, 1919 in Sunnyside, WA to Tom and Nell (Perry) Hudson. She attended school at Liberty and graduated from Granger High School. On December 27, 1935, Hope and Ernest E. Graham were married. Together, they farmed and ranched in the Outlook area until 1998 when they retired and moved to Yakima. Hope was a life long member of the Liberty Community Church. She had been a treasurer for the church, a Sunday school teacher and Vacation Bible School teacher. She was very active in the church, attending regularly, and helped plan and helped with the different activities. Hope and Ernie were long time members of the Yakima County and Washington State Cattleman's association. She held several offices in the Yakima County Cattlewomen's association. Hope was very proud of the many years she spent on the local election board at voting time. Hope and Ernie were married 67 years before his passing in 2003. They were very good parents, responsible citizens and always willing to help family, friends and their neighbors. They will now be together forever. Hope is survived by 4 sons; Gary Graham and wife, Nancy of Shelton, WA; Tom Graham and wife, Janet of Stevens Point, WI; Gene Graham and wife, Sharon of Otis, OR; Ron Graham and wife, Diana of Yakima, WA, several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Hope was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest, her parents, Tom and Nell Hudson, and an older sister, Beth (Hudson) Uribe. The family of Hope extends a "Special Thanks" to the very caring staff at Englewood Heights Retirement Community and at Arbor House full time care facility, both in Yakima. They loved Hope and took very good care of her. In Hope's final days, the care and help for her and to the family by the Lower Valley Hospice has been wonderful. Thank you all very much. Viewing and visitation will be held Friday, November 7, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. at the Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside, WA. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, November 8, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at the Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside, WA with burial to follow at the Outlook Cemetery.
