RICHMOND, Ind. – Lou Ann "Annie" Adkins, age 86, of Richmond, Indiana, died Sunday, July 11, 2021, at home surrounded by her family.

Born February 2, 1935, in Wayne County, Indiana, to Richard and Evelyn D. Haines Ammon, Annie was a life-long resident of this community. She retired from the Richmond State Hospital after 20 years of service. Annie was a member of First English Lutheran Church and the Richmond Senior Community Center. She was an avid reader and enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles, solving word search puzzles, spending time on her houseboat at Brookville Reservoir, and traveling. Above all, Annie loved spending time with her family and friends, including her furry friends.

Survivors include her daughter, Cynthia (Rev. Clarence) Brockman of Ardmore, Alabama; sons, Gary (Bonna) Adkins of Richmond and Robert Adkins of Pensacola, Florida; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Lucille Ivey of Pensacola and Dorothea "Dotty" Angi (Rolland Hofacker) of Richmond; nieces; nephews; cousins; and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of almost 39 years, Robert Adkins, who died February 26, 1992; parents; and brothers, Richard and Paul "Pete" Ammon and infant, Gerald Ammon.
