Richard joined the US Navy on Jan. 1955, served on 12 different ships and several land tours, retired from the service in 1985 as a Boiler Technician First Class.
Survived by his 2nd wife, Sheila; 2 daughters: Debra (John) Lobley, Pamela Ammon; 12 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; sisters: Lou Ann Adkins, Lucille Ivey, Dotty Angi; several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
Preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Laverne; brothers Paul David Ammon, Gerald Ammon.
