Joan A. Marquardt, 91, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at Avantara Watertown.

Funeral mass will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 17, 2021 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Watertown with Father Mark McGregor and Father Richard Fox Concelebrating.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., with a scripture service and rosary at 6:30 p.m., on Friday, July 16, 2021 at the Wight & Comes Funeral Chapel in Watertown.

Burial will be in the Esterly Cemetery, Florence, SD.

Pallbearers will be her grandchildren: Kyle, Matthew and Robin Marquardt, Nathan Kriese, Nicolette Marquardt, Ben and Sam Feuerborn.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, 1400 West 17th Street, Sioux Falls, SD 57104.

Joan Adelle Marquardt, daughter of Leo and Irene (Rademacher) McManus was born on March 22, 1930 in Emery, SD. Joan attended schools in Alexandria and Watertown and graduated from Watertown Senior High. On October 11, 1949 she married Lavern Marquardt.

Joan loved being a wife, business partner, farmer, mother to nine children, and grandmother to many. She enjoyed fishing, gardening and reading.

Grateful for having shared her life are children, Cathleen Powers, Victoria, Australia; Joseph (Gayle) Marquardt, Highlands Ranch, CO; Madeline (Cynthia) Marquardt, McMinnville, OR; Robert (Jo) Marquardt and Thomas (Ann) Marquardt, Watertown, SD; William (Joan) Marquardt, Coralville, IA; Theresa (Richard) Kriese, Mitchell, SD; and Elizabeth (Vincent) Feuerborn, Brooklyn Park, MN; a daughter-in-law Jeannie Marquardt, Phoenix, AZ; 27 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; her brother, Michael (Deanna) McManus, Mesa, AZ; and her nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and in-laws, her husband Lavern, her son James Marquardt, and a son-in-law Ron Powers.
