Funeral services were held at the Hovis chapel yesterday afternoon for Mrs. Emily Purviance, 80, of 217 North Caldwell street, who died in a local hospital Sunday night.
Dr. J. F. Hardie, pastor of Second Presbyterian church, was in charge of the funeral and burial was in the cemetery at Matthews. The following nephews of Mrs. Purviance were pallbearers: Ed Alexander, Conner Hutchison, Pat Hutchison, Joe Williams, Ira Williams, and T. D. Williams. Mrs. Purviance had lived in the city for the past 42 years and was one of the oldest members of the Second Presbyterian church.
