Anthony "Tony" J. Ushman, 89, of Springfield died Thursday, Oct. 3, 2002, at St. John's North. He was born Feb. 17, 1913, in Springfield, the son of Michael and Joanna Kastelis Ushman. He married Doris Stainbrook; she died in 1971. He then married Frances Steele; she died in 1992. A son, Michael Ushman, also preceded him in death.
Mr. Ushman was a coal miner for 18 years and worked for Standard Concrete as a laborer for 15 years. He was a Republican precinct committeeman for more than 20 years.
Survivors: two daughters; six sons; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren.
Services: Staab Funeral Home, the Rev. Steven Taylor officiating. Burial: Oak Ridge Cemetery.
