Obituary. Our loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother passed away July 7, 2021, in Spanish Fork, Utah after a battle with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. Wayne was born on Jan. 2, 1936, to Frances Thompson Peterson and Mary Almana Atwood in Spanish Fork, Utah.

Wayne grew up and attended school in Spanish Fork, graduating from Spanish Fork High School in 1954. He was a proud member of the FFA.

He married his sweetheart Arlene Markham on July 2, 1958, in the Manti Temple. Together they raised three children Bryon, Valinda and Kelly.

As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served as a Bishop in the Spanish Fork 16th Ward and in many church positions throughout the years.

He worked at Geneva Steel for 32 years and raised cattle on his farm behind the fair grounds. His cattle were his pride and join.

He is survived by his wife Arlene, son Bryon (Carrie) Peterson of Sp. Fork, daughter Valinda (Jesse) Hanks, son Kelly (Alison) Peterson of Salem, grandchildren Amberly, Brooks, Ashley, Alecia, Justin, Collin, Kaiden, Addy, Chance and Cole. 15 great grandchildren and his sisters Frances (Richard) Nelson and Joyce (George) Cox.

He was preceded in death by his father, mother, many brothers and sisters (12) and grandson Cody Bates.

Funeral service will be Tuesday morning, July 13, 2021, at 11 a.m. at the Palmyra Stake Center, 505 East 900 North, Spanish Fork, Utah. Family and friends may call on Monday evening, July 12, 2021, from 6-8 p.m. at the Walker Funeral Home, 187 South Main Street, Spanish Fork, Utah; and on Tuesday morning from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to the funeral. Interment will be at the Spanish Fork City Cemeter
