CASTLEWOOD, VIRGINIA – Gregory Charles Collins, 60, passed away on Thursday, July 8, 2021, at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon, Virginia.

He was born in Abingdon, Virginia; son of the late Samuel Charles and Audrey Louise Bush Collins.

Greg attended Calvary Baptist Church on Gravel Lick in Castlewood, Virginia, and was a member of Local Union #538, Plumbers and Pipefitters of Johnson City, where he retired after twenty-five years. He also enjoyed being outdoors, hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Renee Collins; one sister, Carmella and husband, Steven Thomas of Kingsport, Tennessee; mother-in-law, Louise Woods Evans of Castlewood, Virginia; two aunts, Pauline Blevins and Anna Lee Blackwell and husband, Doug; and three uncles, Glen Collins and wife, Irdella, Lester Collins and wife, Earlene, and Cary Collins, Jr.

Funeral Services for Gregory Charles Collins will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Monday, July 12, 2021, in the Castlewood Funeral Home Chapel in Castlewood, Virginia with Pastor Travis Price and Pastor George Jessee officiating. Committal Services and Interment will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 13, 2021, in Temple Hill Memorial Park in Castlewood, Virginia. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home and go in procession to the cemetery leaving at 12:30 p.m., Tuesday. Pallbearers will be Dwayne Proffitt, Will Collins, Justin Collins, Sean Collins, Jerome Collins, Jason Blackwell, James Collins, Bill Higgins, and Ronnie McReynolds. Honorary Pallbearers will be Tony Bush, Glen Collins, Lester Collins, Cary Collins, Jr., Travis Woods, Wayne Woods, Randall Smith, Gary Blevins, Terry Addington, Ronnie Addington, and Doug Blackwell.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday, July 12, 2021, in Castlewood Funeral Home in Castlewood, Virginia. The family would like to give special thanks to all his friends that visited him during his sickness, Johnston Memorial Hospital Staff, and Dante Rescue Squad.
