Patricia "Pat" Shoemaker-Wells was called home to her Lord on Tuesday, July 6, 2021. She died peacefully at home with her husband at her side.

Patricia was born in Lafayette, IN on April 17, 1934 to the late Cecil and Dorothy (Shaff) Baker. She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1952 and married Kenneth Shoemaker on June 19, 1955 at Brown Street United Methodist Church. She was married to Ken for 51 years before his death in December 2006. She was blessed to find love again and married E. Lloyd Wells on August 30, 2009 in the backyard of her home.

Pat worked at Lafayette Life Insurance Company in high school and continued there after graduation until her first child was born. She was a stay-at-home mom during her children's primary school years and was an accomplished Avon salesperson for 10 years during that time. After her children went to college, she began a career at Purdue University working in several departmental business offices until her retirement in October 1993.

In earlier years, Pat was a member of the Jefferson High School Booster Club, was a Girl Scout and Cub Scout Leader and room mother when her children were in grade school. Pat was a very active member of Immanuel United Church of Christ and previously 20 years at Brown Street United Methodist Church. While at Immanuel, she served in roles of Deacon, Elder and sang in the church choir for many years.

She was active in Mary and Martha Circle for 25 years and recently Lydia Circle. She and Ken taught 6th grade Sunday school for several years. She always felt it was her calling to visit the sick and shut-ins of the church and friends in hospitals and nursing homes. She also sent cards regularly to the sick and bereaved. A cherished memory of hers was being able to serve communion to the homebound. She was always a faithful servant.

Additionally, Pat enjoyed doing counted cross stitch, knitting.and camping. Her most treasured knitting accomplishment was knitting afghans for each of her grandchildren upon their high school graduation. She and Ken spent 20 years camping at Lake Wales, FL during the winter months, and in recent years, she and Lloyd spent a winter month in various campgrounds in Florida.

In addition to her strong Christian faith, Pat had a deep love for her family and was particularly proud of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved being a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. Patricia very much enjoyed spending time with her family and attending their activities.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband; a granddaughter, Lauren Claire Shoemaker; son-in-law, Larry Timmons; and daughter-in-law, Kathy Shoemaker. In addition to her second husband, survivors include four children; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; three stepchildren; nine step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.

Memorial visitation will be held from 3-5 PM on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at Immanuel United Church of Christ, 1526 S 18th St, Lafayette, IN. Memorial service will begin at 5 PM with Pastor TJ Jenney officiating.
