Ernest George Kouba, son of Mary (Wranosky) and Paul Kouba, was born east of Munden, Kan. on November 15, 1893 and passed away suddenly at the Lynch Clinic in Fairbury Neb. on January 13, 1962 at the age of 68 years, one month and 28 days.
Ernest was a member in the Presbyterian church of Munden. Early in life he chose the occupation of a farmer.
On October 31, 1914, he was united in marriage with Libbie Marsicek at Belleville, and to this union were born two daughters. They made their home on a farm southeast of Narka, where he was happily engaged in his chosen occupation. He was active in all rural affairs and for many years, served on the District School Board, earning the respect and admiration of all his friends and neighbors.
In October of 1950, he left the farm he loved so much and accepted a position as custodian of Narka Rural High school. At that time he and his wife moved their home to Narka.
Ernie as his friends called him, was known for his integrity, loyalty, devotion to family and to God, and for his unselfishness in giving of his time and effort to aid others. He took great pride in his work and never failed to complete a task to prefection. He was always ready with a quick smile and a quiet word of encouragement to the boys and girls who passed through the halls of Narka High on their way to face the task ahead of them. He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be missed by all those near him.
He leaves behind, his loving wife, Libbie, two daughters, Lena Elaine Sullivan and husband Lloyd of Pocatello, Ida., Marjorie Marie Purdy and husband, Elmer of Crete, Neb.; three sisters, Emma Vocasek of Narka, Elsie Chudly of Milligan, Neb., and Blazena Trecek of Cuba; four grandsons, one great-granddaughter, and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Mayme Huncovsky of Bell Gardens, Cal.
Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church in Narka, conducted by the Rev. Sylvan S. Poet and Rev. Amos Rundus, burial in National Cemetery south of Narka, Kansas.
