Jean was born Sunday, September 13, 1936 in Grenola, KS, to Ollie John and Gracie Ann (Stiles) Moore. She was a 1955 graduate of Grenola High School and attended her class reunions regularly. Jean had lived most of her adult life in Wynona, Pawhuska, and Marlow. She eventually settled in Marlow and had lived there since 2004. Jean married Correl Morris on Sept 1 1961, in Wichita KS, and from this union came 5 wonderful children. She would later marry Kenneth Thornton in November of 1993, and they celebrated 5 years of marriage before he preceded her in death in 1998. Jean always enjoyed life, and made sure it was full of laughter and fun. She enjoyed the simple things in life like filling stockings for Christmas, Easter egg hunts, decorating the house for every season and holiday that came around, and giving out her hugs to people. When her grandkids were growing up, Jean made sure to always send them each a Valentine's Day card every year. Nanny was naturally a caregiver and enjoyed helping others. Several people referred to her as their Momma Jean, Mom, and even Nanny. Jean was the best Nanny around and had a love like no other for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She would spend hours playing and having tea parties with them. Nanny loved her family more than anything and she cherished the time she could spend with them. She will be deeply missed by all.
Survivors include, 2 sons, Jason Morris and wife Carrie of Barnsdall, Charles Morris and wife Jennifer of Duncan, 3 daughters, Corrella Elroy of Rush Springs, Brenda Ratliff and husband Fred of Cleveland, and Edia Killgore and husband Donde of Marlow, 7 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one more on the way, 1 great-great-grandchild, 2 sisters, Carol Louise Neeley of Joshua, TX, and Patsy Lay of Wynona, numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
