Estelle N. Williams, 92, died on Sunday, Jan. 19, 2014. She was born in Littcarr, Ky., and after graduating from high school she moved to Newport News. There she met Conard O. Williams, better known as "Speed" and the two were married March 8, 1944, in South Mills, N.C.

Estelle was employed by the Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Co. and became a wartime member of "Rosie the Riveter." After her husband returned from service during World War II, they moved to Northern Virginia, where Estelle worked for the Westinghouse Co. as a graphic illustrator. After retirement, they moved to New Market, Va.

She and her husband enjoyed many hobbies, which included, but not limited to, fishing, hunting, boating and woodcraft. She was easy in making new friends and keeping old ones. Estelle's creativity, compassion, laughter and humor brought joy to her family and friends and will remain as a wonderful lasting memory for those who love her deeply.

Estelle was preceded in death by her husband, Conard O. Williams, and two sisters. She is survived by her son, Eugene Williams of Hampton, Va.; grandson, Christopher Williams of Newport News, Va.; brothers, Russell Collins and Millard Franklin Collins, both of Kentucky; brothers-in-law, C.B. Williams of Newport News, Va., and Ralph Williams (Frances) of Hampton, Va.; and a sister-in-law, Ella Mae Good (John) of New Market, Va.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014, in Cedar Grove Cemetery, New Market, with the Rev. James Burke officiating.
