Micheal Douglas "Doug" Bailey, 68, of Robinson, IL, died July 6, 2021. He was born September 22, 1952, in Palestine, IL, the son of Don Arthur Bailey & Galora Jean (Rush) Bailey, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his son, Dusty Bailey, on March 2, 1999; by his brother, David "Boots" Bailey; and by his brother-in-law, Larry Colliflower.

He married Dianna Walton on September 22, 1972, and she survives. He is also survived by his children, Michelle D. & George Hayes, Curtis & Tyler Bailey, April & Bill Rutan; by his grandchildren, Sydni Dianna Bailey, Emma Donn Bailey, Alexa Reeter, Micheal Brandon Bailey, Kristopher Neal Bailey, Mary Francis Weck, Daymian Nicholas Rij, Lydia Moody, Joshua Moody, Laynie Moody, Brantley Bailey, Ashley Trimble, Jonathon Rutan, and Kiya Rutan; by his great-grandchildren, Abby, Kaelynn, Anthony, Waylon, Braxton, Madison, and Atticus; by his brother & sister-in-law, Donnie Bill & Joanie Bailey; by his sister, Gina Colliflower; as well as several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

Doug grew up in rural Crawford County and was a 1970 graduate of Robinson High School. He would go on to serve his country in the U.S. Marine Corps before an injury led him to an early honorable discharge. Back home, he became a union painter for a time before eventually finding his way to Marathon, where he worked as an environmental tech from 1983 until retiring in 2010. Away from work, he was a longtime member of the Flat Rock Masonic Lodge and enjoyed the camaraderie of his fellow brethren. He also enjoyed times spent alongside his church family at the Prairie Grove Baptist Church. Though these organizations were important to him, it was evident that his retirement years were dedicated to caring for his beloved family.

Anyone who knew Doug could speak to his love of the outdoors. Simply put, the man felt most at home out in nature. He spent who-knows-how-many-hours mowing his yard, and this provided him with a genuine sense of peace and satisfaction. He also found fulfillment in his garden, where he grew bucket-loads of tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, and even hot peppers (though he didn't eat those!) His loved ones not only enjoyed his delicious produce, but the large family gatherings he held in his garage throughout the years.

Doug was, by all accounts, an avid hunter, to the point that he and his family set up an annual deer camp, where they enjoyed singing karaoke, making many happy memories in the process. They will remember Doug Bailey as a good and helpful man, a genuinely good soul who cared deeply for others. His legacy of selfless love lives on in our hearts, and he could never be forgotten.

It was Doug's wish to be cremated without a public service.
