Lou Ella Imogine Davis, age ninety-three, quietly fell asleep in the arms of Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior, on Tuesday July 2, 2021, at Heritage Living Center in Conway, Arkansas.

Imogine was born on March 25, 1928, at Fairfield Bay, Arkansas. She was the third of twelve children born to Edward and Mamie Ann Totten Barger of the Settlement Community near Fairfield Bay and Shirley. Being the oldest girl in the Barger family, she took on many household responsibilities such as cooking, ironing, milking cows, and helping make big gardens. Like her mother, Mamie, she could plow behind a mule as good as a man. When she got old enough to help her dad, she joined him in the woods cutting timber with a cross-cut saw and skidded logs like a man. She and her older two brothers received a fourth grade education before dropping out to help Edward and Mamie raise their big family.

On December 26, 1946, Imogine married Monroe Devascoe "Kak" Davis of Edgemont, Arkansas. To this marriage Monroe and Imogine were blessed with three children: Joy Ann, Linda Louise and Tommy Joe Davis. Imogine spent most of her working years as an employee of Eli Walker Shirt Factory in Heber Springs, Arkansas; and fifteen years at Virco Mfg. in Conway. Upon retiring to her home in Quitman, Imogine enjoyed gardening, solving puzzles, quilting as well as reading and crocheting.

Imogine was preceded in death by the father of her children Monroe Davascoe "Kak" Davis; and her parents Edward and Mamie Ann Totten Barger of Quitman; three brothers, Harvey and Willie Barger of Quitman, and Chester Barger of Greer's Ferry, four sisters, Betty Barger Gentry of Greer's Ferry, Loudeen Barger Schoolcraft of Quitman; Marie Ann Barger of Greer's Ferry, and Ella Mae Barger Francis of West Plains, Missouri. She was also preceded in death by her son-in-law, Jereld Johnston of Conway.

She is survived by her three children, Joy Ann Davis Johnston of Conway; Linda Louise Davis (Floyd) Story, of Quitman and Tommy Joe Davis of Quitman. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Scotty Johnston of Tampa, Florida; Karen Johnston (Aaron) McPeake of Quitman; Ginger Goff (Dale) Sanford of Little Rock; Malisia Goff (Steve) Padgett of Conway; Rose Ann Davis (Bobby) Strnad of Clinton and Danyel Davis (Michael) Williams of Quitman.

She is also survived by eleven great-grandchildren: Christopher Johnston, Forrest (Ashley) Mcpeake; Marissa McPeake (Tommy) Wood; Hayle Sanford; Casey Padgett, Parker Padgett, Savannah Sanford; Larry Pool; Logan Pool; Alyssa Williams; Rayden Story and Shane Story.

Additionally, she is survived by three brothers and one sister: Jimmy Barger of Gentry; Roy Barger of Quitman; Carl J Barger of Conway; and Leona Faye Barger Bittle of Quitman, twenty-nine nieces, nephews and many friends.

Visitation for Imogine will be on Friday night, July 9, 2021 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Olmstead Funeral Home in Heber Springs, Arkansas. Funeral service will be Saturday, July 10, 2021 at 1:00pm at Olmstead Funeral Home Chapel with Glenn Swafford officiating.
