Chester was a Christian with Baptist religious beliefs. He was a farmer and drove a truck for many years. Chester was a hardworking, loyal and honest man. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing with his grandsons, being outside and working in the garden. He was a veteran of the United States Army and received the Purple Heart for service at the Battle of The Bulge. He was liked by everyone and will be missed dearly.
Chester was preceded in death by his parents Ed and Mamie Barger, two brothers Harvey Barger and Willie Barger, a sister Betty Gentry and an infant daughter Maria Christene.
He is survived by his wife Letha Christene Smith Barger of Higden, son Ronnie Barger of Prim, daughter Sue Brimhall and husband Larry of Phoenix, Arizona, three brothers Jimmy Barger of Quitman, Roy Barger of Quitman, Carl Barger of Conway, four sisters Imagene Davis of Quitman, LouDean Schoolcraft of Quitman, Ella Mae Francis of West Plains, Missouri and Faye Bittle of Quitman, seven grandchildren Chris Hartle and husband Robert of Jacksonville, Arkansas, Renee Vasquez and husband Jerry of Phoenix, Arizona, Nick Brimhall of Heber Springs, Joe Brimhall of South Haven, Michigan , Heith Barger and wife Kerri of Prim, Natalie Needham and husband Brad of Rogers and Natasha Barger of Drasco, 11 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren besides other relatives and many friends.
A visitation will be held on Monday, August 8, 2016 from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Shiloh Crossroads Church and funeral services will be at the church on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. with interment in Shiloh Crossroads Cemetery by Rev. Darvin Carlton. Pallbearers will be Joe Brimhall, Robert Hartle, Matthew Hood, Heith Barger, Nick Brimhall and Brad Needham, Honorary Pallbearers will be Tom Thompson, Tracy Thompson, Cody Barger, Adam Hood, Tim Thompson and Jerry Vasquez.
