Carl Mariotti, Sr.

BLUEFIELD Carl Mariotti, Sr., 87, of 112 Tamarack, Bluefield, formerly of Route 4,Bluewell, died on Saturday, Oct. 9, 1999, at his home.

Born on Sept. 28, 1912 at McVeigh, Ky., he was a son of the late Ernuinio and Natalina Poica Mariotti of McComas and Norcia, Italy. He founded Mountaineer Bowling Lanes
in 1960 and for several years was past president of the W.Va. Bowling Proprietor's Association. He was a veteran of the U.S. Anny. He was a member of the Sacred Heart
Catholic Church in Bluefield, the American Legion and the VFW. He was a former commissioner of the Bluewell Public Service District, a charter member of the Bluewell
Lion's Club, and former director of People's Bank of Bluewell.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Natalina Jean; two brothers, Patsy and Loray Mariotti; and one sister, Rosa Chiddo.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Lena Ferrante Mariotti of the home; daughters, Porcilla Saunders and husband Charles of Richmond, Va., Loretta Hammond and
husband Don of Bluefield, Va. and Anna Alien and husband Seymour of Charlottesville, Va.; son, Carl Mariotti, Jr. and wife Linda of Bluewell; granddaughters, Lisa Passarelia
and husband Mark of New Orleans, La., Amy and Laura Hammond of Bluefield, Va., Jennifer and Caroline Allen of Charlottesville, and Carla Mariotti of Bluefield; grandsons, Clay Hurst of Bluefield, Mark Mariotti of Blacksburg, Va., and Scott Saunders of Richmond; sisters, Eugenia Lanzi of Columbia, Md., Gladys Coccia of Beltsville, Md.,Giovanna Nistakes of Gainesville, Va., Minnie Kuzemka of Silver Springs, Md., and Elettra Mariotti of Annapolis, Md.; brothers, Albert Mariotti of Geneva, Fla., and Americo Mariotti of Bluefield.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bluefield with Rev. Father That Son officiating. Interment will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Blueweli where nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Friends may call on Monday from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Cravens Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell where a Christian Wake Service will be held at 8 p.m.
