Fred Shelton Turner, 94, passed away on Monday, June 28, 2021 in a local care center.
Mr. Turner was a native of Jacksonville, and Alumni of Andrew Jackson Sr. High School and a Veteran of the US Navy. He retired after 32 years as a cable splicer for JEA and after retirement he worked for Manning Electric. Mr. Turner was active in the JEA Retiree's Group, The Jackson Breakfast Group, avid Gator Fan and Booster, and loved to Dance, Bowl, Garden and his Boxer's. He loved his family and spending time with them.
He is preceded in death by his parents, mother-in-law: Louise Staed, brother: Roy Turner and sister Bobbie Jones. He is survived by his wife of 42 years: Pat Turner; 2 daughters: Cindy Byous (Joe) and Nancy Miller (Frank); their mother: Virginia Turner; 5 grandchildren: Justin Bowden (Kristina), Joseph Byous (Connie), Kevin Bowden (Angela), Luke Byous (Stacy) and Mattie McCall (Heath); 10 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at the Event Center at Peeples, 14165 N. Main Street, with Pastor Steve DuBose officiating.
Burial will follow at 2:30 PM with Military Honors at Jacksonville National Cemetery.
His Family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the funeral home prior to the service. In lieu of flowers the family suggest donations to your favorite animal charity or the American Cancer Society. Peeples Family Funeral Home is serving the Turner Family.
