Christine passed away peacefully from this life on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 with her family by her side. Christine grew up in East Bakersfield on Camino Sierra where, she said, "There were so many kids, the Youngs, O'Neils and Eyrauds, and we loved playing hide-and-go-seek and baseball in the street." During her elementary school days at Horace Mann, she walked down the block for piano lessons from Mr. Hochhalter and then returned home where she played her signature piece: "Spinning Song" by Elmenreich. (But, oh, that 17th measure! So, she practiced and practiced until she got it right—a trait she continued throughout her life.) She later played the violin, swam the butterfly on the East Bakersfield High School swim team, and was a member of the "Kompaeda" youth group; she loved doing service projects while wearing that powder-blue windbreaker with the black felt title, "Kompaeda" printed across the back. She graduated in 1966 from EBHS with her dear friends Margie Miller, Georgia Waters, Marcia Rabey and Vicki McKnight. She then studied at Bakersfield College where she was a member of the Renegade band drill team and marched in Chester Avenue parades and Memorial Stadium football games. She then furthered her education at California State University, San Bernardino where she earned her bachelor's degree in psychology in 1975 and became a counselor at the High Desert Clinic where her talent for helping many with personal afflictions was coupled with her innate sense of compassion. "Out of all the kids we hung around, Chrissy had the most compassion; she always gave people the benefit of the doubt. She had the best heart," Margie Miller Taylor, lifelong friend, noted. She later was employed in the electrical utility industry for more than 30 years where she became friends with many co-workers. She loved her family dearly and unconditionally and she especially cherished being a good wife, stepmom and loving her grandchildren and playing bingo games she often shared with them. Christine also enjoyed reading—her favorite novel growing up was Anne of Green Gables—a good cup of coffee and that very special family tradition begun by her beloved Grama Nichols: maple sticks from Smith's bakery. When asked what some of her favorite childhood memories were, she replied, "Mother's Sunday pot-roast dinners with Grama and Grampa Nichols and hearing Dad recite from memory 'The Gettysburg Address.'" Traveling with her husband to the beach, to the mountains, or to the casinos were her special treasures, and she loved playing those slot machines! Central coast trips to Cayucos and Hearst Castle with her mother and sister were other favorites. She had a testimony of her savior Jesus Christ and of his eternal atonement; she often spoke reverently of Him.

Christine was preceded in death by her parents, Roy Frank Stock, Jr. and Maxine Nichols Crafton. She is survived by her husband of 29 years, Emery Davis, and daughters Dana Taylor (Brian Mitchell) and Holly Hall (JR) and her four precious grandchildren: Jared and Kamryn Taylor, Justin Hall and Emery Mitchell. She also is survived by her two brothers, Michael C. Stock and Randall Frank Stock and sister Darlene Stock Stotler (Danny) as well as her nephew, Jason Stotler (Patty) and nieces, Jill Urmston ( Nathan) and Erica Stock Kent (Gabe) along with her very special great-nieces and great-nephews: Mia, Grace, Samantha, Drew, Owen, Olivia, Hailey and Nick.

A private family graveside service will be held at 10 am, Tuesday July 6, 2021 at Hillcrest Memorial Park on Kern Canyon Road in Bakersfield.
