Robert "Bob" Bricker Horne
June 22, 1934 ~ June 29, 2021 (age 87)

Robert (Bob) Bricker Horne, 87, of West Chester, PA passed away peacefully on June 29, 2021 at Chester County Hospital. He was born on June 22, 1934 in Abington, PA. He was the son of the late Robert Jackson Horne and Kathryn Henrietta Bricker Horne.

He was the loving husband of Marilyn Smith Horne for 65 years. They lived in Springfield (Delaware County), PA, until 1984 when they moved to Chester County. Bob graduated from Jenkintown High School in 1951. In 1952, he attained his rank of Eagle Scout. He attended the University of Delaware where he received his Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering and met Marilyn. After graduating in 1955, Bob began his professional career at Philadelphia Electric, where he remained until his retirement in 1994 as Vice President for Chester County, for the then named PECO Energy Company.

While living in West Chester, Bob dedicated much of his time to community service. He served the United Way of Chester County in several positions from 1985 through 1994. Other community non-profit organizations benefiting from his support were Central Chester County Vo-Tech School, Goodwill of Southeastern PA, Housing Partnership of Chester County, American Cancer Society, Chester County Planning Commission and the Chester County Chamber of Commerce.

One of his most fulfilling non-profit service positions was to serve on the Chester County Hospital Foundation Board for nearly 20 years. He saw the hospital grow from a small community hospital to its modern, state-of the-art facility that serves our community today.

Bob's most rewarding role in his life was that of loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Allison Horne, Barbara Horne Williamson, and husband, Ron, and David Jackson Horne and wife, Meredith, all of West Chester; six grandchildren, Ryan Spera Williamson and wife, Laura, Morgan Joan Williamson, Ethan Robert Williamson, Andrew Jackson Horne, Jason Bricker Horne, Kellan Dorothy Williamson, and his sweet great-grandchild, Waylon Spera Williamson.

Bob was known for his outgoing personality, patriotism, endless hours of tinkering, grammar instruction, generosity and his unconditional love for wife, children and grandchildren, as well as his extended family. He made many friends and connections through his varied interests and hobbies such as golf, tennis, model railroading, travel, and sailing on the Sassafras River on the Eastern Shore of MD. He will be greatly missed by all.

Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at the DellaVecchia, Reilly, Smith & Boyd Funeral Home, 410 North Church Street, West Chester, PA 610-696-1181 www.DellaFH.com, followed by Words of Remembrance starting at 12 Noon.
