She was preceded in death by her husband, Foster E. Shoop in Dec. 2013.
Born in Fannettsburg, on February 24, 1935, she was a daughter of the late Raymond and Violet (Briggs) Geyer. She graduated from high school in Dry Run.
She worked with her husband helping with the milking on their dairy farm and enjoyed riding around the property on the Gator. She is remembered as being a wonderful cook preparing meals, not only for her family, but also her extended family. Joan also loved reading, crocheting, gardening and canning.
She was a member of the Upper Path Valley Presbyterian Church and the Farm Women of PA.
Surviving are 4 children: Sandra J. Pechart (Kirk) of Amberson, Steven H. Shoop (Norma), Bob E. Shoop (Laurie A.) and Bill F. Shoop (Kriste) all of Spring Run, 1 brother, Carl Geyer (Pat) of Chambersburg and 2 sisters-in-law, Janet and Vivian Geyer and nieces and nephews. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren: Shawn Pechart (Karen), Carrie Briggs (Michael), Melissa Shoop (Brant), Tammy Shoop, Nikki Rosenberry (Rick), Alyson Campbell (Aaron), Brandon Shoop (Dawn), Travis Minimum (Angel) 15 great grandchildren: Malia, Keegan, Gavin, Haillie, Kaden, Kyler, Diesel, Avery, Kyndlelyn, Adalyn, Eathan, Aubree, Easton, Sean and Scottie and 6 great great grandchildren: Lillie, Chase, Sly, Stetson, Isaiah, Josiah and Hannah.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Raymond Geyer, Jr. and William Geyer, a sister-in-law, Donna Geyer and a great granddaughter, Heavyn.
Funeral service Friday, July 2, 2021 at 11 a.m. at the Upper Path Valley Presbyterian Church, 16950 Main Street, Spring Run, PA, Rev. Dr. Meagan M. Boozer officiating.
The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m.
Interment will be in Path Valley Cemetery.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Agett-lakjer Funeral Home.
