Raymond George Birchett, 86, born March 9, 1921, in Beggs, OK, died November 9, 2007, in Oklahoma City. Raised in Holdenville, he joined the United States Army Air Corps in January 1941, remaining on active duty for 24= years during WWII, Korea, the Cold War, and the war in Viet Nam. Raymond retired from the Air Force in May 1965. Surviving family members include his wife of 61 years, Georgene; sons, Dale, Terry and Sam; daughters, Jacqueline Schwenke and Patricia Thayer, and their spouses; eleven grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Billy Birchett and his wife Milba and their children of the Tulsa area. He is preceded in death by parents, Raymond Franklin Birchett and Judith Mae Bonds Birchett; and his sister, Ruth Sipes. Burial will be in the Holdenville Cemetery and a commemorative bench will be placed at the U.S. Air Force Museum in Dayton, Ohio.
