Phyllis L. Lutz, 89, of Lewistown, passed away on June 27, 2021, at Elmcroft Senior Center. Born on May 27, 1932, in Lewistown, Phyllis was the daughter of the late George E. and Carrie R. (Dippery) Mellinger.

In addition to her parents, Phyllis was preceded in death by: grandsons, Brent, and Justin Lutz; her brothers, George "Punch" Mellinger, Donald Mellinger, Sr., Clarence "Chuck" Mellinger and sisters, Helen McCalips, Betty McCorkle, Dorothy "Ruth" Grose, and Carrie "Cass" Alexander.

Phyllis was the widow of Paul L. Lutz, Jr., who preceded her in death in 2018. Surviving are three sons, Douglas P. Lutz and wife, Debbie, of Lewistown, Mark L. Lutz and wife, Stephanie, of Altoona, and Kevin T. Lutz and wife, Paula, of Lewistown; seven grandchildren, Eric and Bryant Lutz, Miranda Coleman, Rachel Stewart, Sarah Lonsinger, Allison Lutz, and Ryan Lutz; and six great-grandchildren, Graycen Lutz, Quinn and Wyatt Coleman, Penelope, and Jude Lonsinger. A sister, Mrs. Wayne (Marie) Mitchell of Muncy also survives.

Phyllis graduated from Lewistown High School, Class of 1950.

She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Lewistown.

Early in life, she worked at the Shirt Factory, Royal Jewelers, and Heller Funeral Homes. She was a homemaker for many years, taking care of her husband, three boys, and anything that needed to be done around the house.

Phyllis enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, crossword puzzles, and baking. However, she enjoyed taking care of her children and grandchildren the most. She was a dedicated mother and wife.

A Memorial service will be held on Friday, July 2, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at the Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, 200 N. Main Street, Lewistown, with Pastor Chris Lutz and Rev. Paul Carter officiating.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11 a.m., Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn.

Interment will be at St. Mark's Cemetery in Lewistown. Flowers will be provided by the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Phyllis's name may be made to the American Cancer Society.
