John Bunyan Rice was the son of David and Susannah Rice. His silblings were Elizabeth,( married John Ringo), James Harvey (married to Margaret Belle Crutcher), Polly (married to Edward Kern), Mary Magdaline (married to unkown O'Neil), and David Luther (married to Elizabeth Johnston) Rice.
He married Amelia Ann Hoggins 17 Mar 1845, in Gallatin County, Ky. They lost a set of twins in 1864; John Hill and Robert Lee. Their remaining children were; Mary Jane, Ann Susan, Margaret, Angeline, David Luther, Judson, James Hill, William I, Lydia Belle, and Edwin Claude Rice.
