Nells's wishes were to be cremated. A Graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, June 19 at the United Lutheran Cemetery 3 miles north of Hampton, 17th and W Rd. No visitation.
Nell Janice Ericksen, the daughter of John L. and Evangeline (Jones) Ericksen, was born in Hampton, Nebraska on January 23, 1932, and passed away in Sutton, Nebraska on April 26, 2021 at the age of 89.
Nell grew up in Hampton where she attended and graduated from Hampton Public School with the class of 1950. She then attended Luther College for one year in Wahoo where she took a secretarial course. In June of 1951 she started her first job at Elgin Watch Company in Lincoln until they closed in 1958. Nell then worked in the investment business at various positions, starting at First Trust Company in Lincoln in 1958, First Mid America in Lincoln from 1961-1984 and Ameritas Investment Corporation in Lincoln from 1984 until her retirement in 1997. She moved back to Hampton in 1999.
Nell was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary beginning in 1982, serving on various committees. She was also a member of the United Lutheran Church WELCA, where she served on committees and as an officer. Nell enjoyed volunteering her time at the Hamilton Manor in Aurora and sewing quilts at United Lutheran Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother and sister-in-law, Duane and Marjorie Ericksen, sister, Marian Bedinger and brother-in-law, Mario Vergas.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sister, Dorothy Vergas of Scottsdale, AZ and brother-in-law, William Bedinger of Aurora. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends.
