From Peerage: Gilbert Theophilus Clifton Clifton-Hastings-Campbell, 3rd Baron Donington was born on 29 May 1859. He was the son of Charles Frederick Abney-Hastings, 1st Baron Donington and Edith Maud Rawdon-Hastings, 10th Countess of Loudoun. He married Maud Kemble Hamilton, daughter of Sir Charles Edward Hamilton, 1st and last Bt. and Lucia McCorquodale, on 12 July 1894. He died on 31 May 1927 at age 68, without male issue.
He was given the name of Gilbert Theophilus Clifton Abney-Hastings at birth. On 2 January 1896 his name was legally changed to Gilbert Theophilus Clifton Clifton-Hastings-Campbell by Royal Licence. He gained the rank of Major in the 3rd Battalion, Sherwood Foresters. He succeeded as the 3rd Baron Donington, of Donington Park, co. Leicester [U.K., 1880] on 17 May 1920. On his death, his barony became extinct.
