John attended Zion Benton Township High School in Zion, IL. He was affectionately known for his handsome smile, witty jokes, competitive spades playing, and love for cold Pepsi and pitbulls.

John leaves to cherish his memories: father, John; mother, Janet; daughter, Za' Mari; stepson, Zaccaheus and significant other, Julia Coleman-Grimes. His memories will forever live through his sister, Aviance Andrews; brothers, Rashef Davis and Jashani Grayson; nephews, Jaquon and Jaivion Andrews; nieces, Heavenlee Andrews and Rhi'Anna Davis; paternal grandfather, Minoso Winters; paternal aunts and uncles, Marilyn Moore, Kimberly Grayson, Cherie (Keenan) Grayson-Lewis, Ashia (Kevin) Barksdale, and Minoso and Bruce Winters; maternal aunts and uncles, Georgia Johnson,Denise Lear, Linda Brown, Pam Drone, Antonette (Robert) Lewis, Jackie Lear, Terry Lear, James (Lee Ester) Lear, Ronald (Sherry) Lear, and Rommeal (Lorri) Lear; and a host of cousins and close friends.

John is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, John Grayson and Charline Winters, maternal grandparents, James and Rosie Lear, and close friend and mentor, Robert Norris, Jr.
