A native of Patterson, Georgia and a daughter to the late Peter Samuel and Cora Cooper Spradley ; also preceded in death by her husband, Howard Haynes;
a son, George Samuel Waters; 2 sisters and a brother-in-law, Gladys McMillan and Nancy (Will) Shefield; all her brothers, Oscar Spradley, J.D. Spradley, Lee Spradley, Harold Spradley, Joe Spradley, and Edward Spradley; and 2 sisters-in-law, Clistine King and Gladys Spradley.
She lived most of her life in Waycross and was a 1955 graduate of Waycross High School. She had worked at Waycross Sportwear, as a CNA at Baptist Village, and at several sewing factories over the years, but spent most of her adult life as a homemaker.
She attended Waycross Gospel Tabernacle and enjoyed fishing, cooking, and going to flea markets. She also loved frogs (which she always referenced F.R.O.G. "Fully Relying on God").
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Haynes; a son, George Samuel Waters; 2 sisters and a brother-in-law, Gladys McMillan and Nancy (Will) Shefield; all her brothers, Oscar Spradley, J.D. Spradley, Lee Spradley, Harold Spradley, Joe Spradley, and Edward Spradley; and 2 sisters-in-law, Clistine King and Gladys Spradley.
Survivors include her 4 sons, Lewis Gerald Waters of Jacksonville, Florida, Herbert Carl Waters of Waycross, William Richard King (wife Patricia) of Waycross, and Russell Archie King (wife Teresa) of Waycross; 4 daughters-by-choice, Cindy F. Rooney of Fort Myers, FL, Donna Boss Wells of Middleburg, FL, Lynn McLaughlin of Waycross, and Missy Wilson of Waycross; 10 grandchildren, Alanah King (who she raised) of Mississippi, Marsha, Crystal, Renee, Carla, Haley Waters, Will, Jack, and Jamie; several great grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Sarah and Eddie Linton of Jamestown; a brother-in-law, Ralph McMillan of Rome, GA; and lots of nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives.
A funeral service will take place Tuesday (8/16/22) at 2 p.m. at Waycross Gospel Tabernacle, 904 Dewitt St, Waycross, GA 31503. Burial will follow in the Indian Mound Cemetery in Millwood.
The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday one hour prior to the service.
