Obituary from The Times-News (Twin Falls, ID) - Wednesday, November 5, 2003:
Thomas "Tom" Prescott, beloved by all who knew him, left us after a lengthy illness on November 3, 2003.
Tom was born on a ranch in Cleveland, Idaho, June 20, 1918. He was the sixth child born to Byrum and Maria Prescott. Tom graduated from Wendell High School in 1936 and later received his teaching certificate from Albion State Normal School. He taught school at Dietrich, Idaho, where he met and married the sweetheart of his life, Marjorie DeMoss.

In 1944, Tom volunteered for service in the U.S. Navy, where he served until 1946.
That same year, he and Marge moved to Jerome to join the Heiss Investment Co., later to be owned by Tom and LeRoy Craig and now known as Prescott and Craig Insurance.

Over the years, Tom has been involved with local, state, and national boards and organizations. He has been involved with sportsmen's clubs, State Jaycees, Rotary Club, chamber of commerce, fair board, Boy Scouts, hospital board, Jerome Recreation Association, College boards, Society of Range Management, Magic Valley Cattlemen of the Year and Shoshone District BLM Advisory Council. Some of the highlights of his service were his leadership roles in the National Cattle Association, The American International Charolais Association, Idaho State Cattlemen's Association, and local cattle associations. In 1984, Tom was chosen Jerome Citizen of the Year. In 1997, Tom and Marge were awarded lifetime achievement from Jerome Chamber of Commerce.

Tom was active in his faith, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served in various capacities, including the bishopric and as stake Sunday School superintendent.
In 1955, Tom purchased his first farm, the beginning of his lifelong dream to own a cattle ranch. Because of the ranch, Tom was involved in a number of state and national cattle organizations. He was president of the American International Charolais Association, vice-president of the National Cattle Association and president of the Idaho Cattlemen's Association.

Tom is survived by his five children, Patricia (Chris) Lyman, Gene (Augusta) Prescott, Roy (Judy) Prescott, Ed (Linda) Prescott, and Connie (Steve) Kelly; as well as 22 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. His brother, Dean (Betty) Prescott, and his sister, Teresa (Austin) Julian, also survive him.
Tom is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marge; his parents; three brothers; and one sister.

We will all miss him for the unconditional love, support, and helping hand he gave to all he knew. He leaves behind a lifelong legacy of making a difference in the world.

The service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, November 8, 2003 in the Jerome LDS 4th Ward Chapel, with Bishop Kent Lee officiating. Following the service, interment will take place in the Jerome Cemetery.
