November 14, 1947 - March 23, 2021

Edith A. Thomas, age 73, of Beach Park, Illinois, made her transition to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, March 23, 2021, at home, surrounded by her family and special cousins, Inez Mitchell and Sarah Cannady. Edith worked at Abbott Laboratories as a Lab Technician, Supervisor for 37 years; after retirement, she owned and operated her own catering business, "Personal Catering Just For You." Edith carried herself, her business, and her ministries with love, loyalty, and the "Spirit of Excellence." Edith also worked at Quality Transportation, Lakeside Transportation, and Zion Benton School in the cafeteria.

Edith was the daughter of the late Elizabeth Slater and Samuel Siler and was born in Greensboro, North Carolina on November 14, 1947.

Confessing Christ at an early age, she became a member of Shiloh Baptist Church, and later in life she became a faithful member of Christian Faith Fellowship Church in Milwaukee, WI and Zion, IL. While serving faithfully at Christian Faith Fellowship Church, Mother Edith served in numerous ministries: Praise and Worship, Captain of the Accounting/Finance Team, Chairperson of Hospitality, Secretary of the Mothers of Zion, Pastors Aides, Assistant Chairperson of the Food Pantry, Chairperson of the Singles Ministry, Announcement Clerk, Street Ministry, and as Bishop Logan's nurse. Edith was also ordained as a Deaconess on September 4, 2011.

Mother Edith was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, godmother, mother-in-law, aunt, great-aunt, and friend. She was the matriarch of her family, church, and community. She dedicated her life to serving at her church and building lasting traditions, and was a great inspiration for all who encountered her. She was affectionally known by her grandchildren as: Ma'Ma, Skittles, The Girl, and The Lady.

Edith was preceded in death by her mother, Elizabeth Slater, her father, Samuel Siler, Sr., and stepfather, John Slater, Sr.
