John F. Coulter, 71, of Meadville, passed away Tuesday, June 15, 2021, at Meadville Medical Center.

John was born in Meadville, on August 19, 1949, son of John and Dorothy (Francis) Coulter.

John was a graduate of Meadville High School, Class of 1967. He continued his education and graduated from Penn State University, University Park, in 1972, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Architectural Engineering. John was hired by the City of Meadville in 1972 and retired in 2004 as Assistant City Engineer. He was proud to have a 32 year career, all in the Engineering Department. John was the longest serving member of the Solid Waste Authority, holding every office during his tenure from 1991 - 2019. He also had served on the Airport Advisory Committee. He was a firm believer in planting trees and the benefit they provided to a community. John's greatest enjoyment came from caring for and loving the many dogs he had throughout his life and the time spent with his family.

John is survived by his brother in law Ron Miller (Margie) of Crossingville; two nieces Betty White of Crossingville, Donna Kibbee (Mike) of Saegertown; a nephew John Miller (special friend, Clara Simmons) of Saegertown; a great nephew Daniel Kibbee; a great niece Katelyn Way (Rian); cousin Sandra Goodall of Hudson, FL. He also has his special friends that have supported him in recent years, including Brenda Schmidt of Crossingville, who took in and cared for his dog, Herman, and Jimmie Hanson who helped with several chores around his home. He also leaves behind many friends he made while doing rehab at Embassy of Park Ave., as well as his daily caregiver Tami Hritzay, who cared for him for the past year after returning to his own home.

In a addition to his parents John was preceded in death by his sister, Mollie Miller.

Family and friends are invited to call from 4-7 PM on Friday, June 18, 2021, and also on Saturday, June 19, 2021 from 10:30-11:30 AM, at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE, where the funeral service will follow at 11:30 AM with Dr. Ron Sheldon, Pastor of Cornerstone Baptist Church, Crossingville, officiating.

John will be laid to rest in Greendale Cemetery.
