ERAVA W. KARAU
Erava W. Karau, 67, 1902 E. Main St., Merrill, died Tuesday night at Holy Cross Hospital, Merrill. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Winstein's Funeral Home, Merrill. The Revs. Dale G. Kick and Jonathon D. Knecht, pastors of the St. Stephen's United Church of Christ in Merrill, will officiate. Burial will be in Merrill Memorial Park. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Veterans organizations will conduct services at the cemetery.
Mr. Karau was born July 13, 1909, in Merrill, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Hermann Karau. He was married Nov. 2, 1946, in Merrill, to Ruth Martell, who died Dec. 29, 1969. Mr. Karau was an employee on Anson & Gilkey Co., retiring in 1973. He was an Army corpsman, serving in Europe during World War II.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Sandra Kozelka, 1708 1/2 E. Main Street, Merrill, five sons, Barry Karau, 1902 E. Main St., Merrill, Michael Karau, Lemoore, Calif., Erava Karau Jr., Ft. Benning, Ga., James Johnson, Reno, Nev., and Charles Johnson, Stevens Point; a brother, Sylas Karau, 209 Lake St., Merrill; a sister, Mrs. Lauretta Wengeler, 1000 E. Seventh St., Merrill; and nine grandchildren.
