Mr. Loy was a son of the late George M. and Lydia Ann (Bower) Loy, and was born in Andersonberg, on March 19, 1850. He died on November 11, 1920, aged 60years, 7months and 22 days. He is survived by one brother, William H. Loy, residing at Cisna Run, this county, and one sister, Miss Mary B. Loy, at Loysville, Perry County.
Mr. Loy was married to Sarah C. Wentzel, daughter of the late Daniel and Catherine Wentzel, on December 28, 1875, who survives without issue.
Mr. Loy was a retired farmer who moved to this borough five years ago from Andersonburg, where he tilled the soil on his farm, the Loy homestead for many years. Mr. Loy was a highly respected citizen and where ever he resided, was known to be a kind and obliging neighbor. He was fair and square in his dealings. Mr. Loy lived in the house in which he was born at Andersonburg all his life, excepting the few years of his residence at Blain. He was a faithful member of the Lutheran Church for a great many years.
The funeral was held on Monday afternoon with services conducted at 1 o'clock at his late home in this place by the Rev. G.R. Heim, Interment was made in the Mt. Zion cemetery below Bridgeport, this county.
Rev. G.R. Heim officiated, taking his text from 11 Cor. 5: 1-10 and 1 Cor. 15: 35-58
Thirteen automobiles were in the funeral cortege to the grave. Beautiful flowers were presented by many friends. Those who acted as pallbearers were; C.D. Stine, G.F. Stine, W.H. Sheaffle, W.I. Stoke, G.W. Henry, and S.L. Rickard.
Among the relatives who attended the funeral were; W.H. Loy and wife, Cisna Run; Miss Mary H. Loy, Loysville; J.W. Fortenbaugh; Dr. H.A. Stine, wife and two children of Harrisburg; J.M.L. Wentzel and wife of Womelsdorf; A.D. Garber, wife, and two children of Flroin; G.L. Woods and wife, and sons Emmet and Clyde of Boiling Springs.
