Benjamin was the son of Thomas Jefferson DePriest and Elizabeth Rebecca Grigsby. He married Mamie L. Moore and they had one daughter, Eula DePriest (1898-1993).

Ben. F. DePriest, a well known citizen of this county, died at St. James, Mo., last Sunday morning of appendicitis. He was taken sick the Monday before and his wife, who was here, was sent for and went to his bedside. The body was brought here for interment and the funeral ceremonies were held Monday afterson. Mr. DePriest was born and raised in the eastern part of the county and has lived here most of his life. He has been in the fruit business for several years and became well known. He was 37 years old and leaves a wife and one child.

Died - B. F. DePriest died at the Commercial hotel Sunday morning about 6 o'clock, of peritonitis. In company with several others he came here a week ago last Monday, representing an Ohio nursery, and when he arrived was far from being well, and on Tuesday was compelled to seek the services of a physician and he gradually grew worse until on Thursday an operation was performed by Drs. Fulbright and Pace, and his condition was such that he was unable to rally and gradually grew weaker until the end came on Sunday morning. He was 37 years of age and leaves a wife and little girl, both of whom accompanied him. The remains were taken to Neosho, Mo., their home, Sunday afternoon, for interment.
