Ralph was born September 6, 1946 in Philadelphia, Pa. to Margaret and Hugh MacLaren Rodgers.
He was a graduate of Council Rock High School and earned an associate degree in Criminal Justice from Palmer College. On November 21, 1969, he married the love of his life, Rita Wessinger Rodgers, of Lexington, S. C.
Ralph was a Vietnam Veteran who served in the 192nd Army Airborne Army stationed at Fort Bragg, N. C. After exiting the military, he had a varied career that included working as a tool and die maker, SLED officer, and retired Senior Electrical Designer with Allied Chemical. Because of his love of horses, he worked as a farrier for several years after retirement.
Ralph served in the S. C. Army National Guard, Cub Scout Leader and Pack Master for Pack 306, member of the Masonic Lodge, served as Worthy Patron while his wife served as Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star, a member of St. Stephen's Lutheran Church and was a proud member of the Lexington County Veteran's Group.
Ralph enjoyed his animals, his beloved horse Dancer, his miniature horses and donkeys, camping, traveling, woodworking and especially his four grandchildren who were his heart.
Mr. Rodgers is survived by his wife of 51 years, Rita; children, Kimberly (Tobin) Williamson and Will (Mary) Rodgers; grandchildren, Hailey and Shawn Williamson, Laney and Emily Rodgers; sister-n-law, Rachel Rodgers; brother-in-law, Rhett (Patsy) Wessinger; step-sister, Marianne (Mark) Seastrand; step-brother, Karl (Beth) Kimball; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his mother and father, Margaret and Hugh M. Rodgers; brother, Ronald "Ronnie" Rodgers; and father-in-law, Phillip Wessinger.
The Lexington County Veterans group will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The funeral service will be held 2:00 p. m., Saturday, June 5, 2021 at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church with interment at the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends and family at Barr Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Lexington Chapel, from 6:00 p. m.– 8:00 p. m. on Friday, June 4, 2021.
