Clarence Logan Jr. passed peacefully on November 11. He was 94.
Junior, as he was known by his family, was born April 5, 1924 and raised in Woodbury, Tennessee. He was one of 13 children born to Clarence Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Logan (West). Junior worked the family farm until he made his way to Ypsilanti, MIchigan in 1942 to work at the bomber plant.
He joined the Navy and served our country in WWII from 1943 to 1946. After the war, he met and married Jean Evelyn Balliet. They married on March 3, 1948 and together raised three children: Becky Jo Hatch (Myers, Ernie), Mary Emily Logan (Hudgens, Tom), and Clarence Bruce Logan.
Junior, also now known as Slim, was a long-haul commercial truck driver and also worked for Fulfords Produce.
He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, The Moose, and The American Legion.
Even though he moved away from home, he never stayed away long. Every year, Slim and the whole family would caravan down to the family farm in Tennessee. We would all spend our days and nights on Momma's big front porch and take trips down through the Mill Hollow.
Slim retired in 1984 and during his retirement years, he and Jean split their time between Michigan and Floral City, Florida.
He also worked for his daughter's upholstery business. Slim had most recently been living with his daughter, Mary, and son-in-law, Tom, for the past four years.
Slim and Jean were blessed with seven grandchildren: Scott, Brian, Cheryl, Paula, Craig, Derek, and Tommy.
They also had 17 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
Big Pa, as the kids knew him, was incredibly happy and quick witted. His life revolved around his family and he was truly as big as life itself.
He is survived by his wife, all of his children, all of his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
He is also survived by his brothers, James, Bob (Jean), and Hubert (Judy), and his sister, Mary Wiley Roberts.
Cremation has taken place.
There will be a memorial in the Spring of 2019.
