Autopsy Slated In Death Here
Possible aggravation by the severely cold weather conditions is the tentative ruling in the death of an elderly Alabama City resident sometime last night. County Coroner, Noble Yocum, told The Times that Journey E. Adkison, 71, Charles Street, Alabama City, was found dead at his residence 9:30 a.m. today by relatives. Adkison was last seen in the business district of Alabama City Wednesday afternoon, Yocum said. The coroner said Adkison apparently went home that night and did not leave. He said evidence points to the possibility that Adkison became ill during last night. The man lived alone, Yocum said. From appearances Adkison had been in bed, Yocum said, but her was lying on the floor. Yocum said a toxicologist will be called and an autopsy will be performed.

Funeral service for Journey Empire Adkison, 72, Charles Street, was held Monday 11 a.m. at Pleasant Hill Methodist Church. Burial in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mr. Adkison died Friday at his residence. He was a native of Polk County, Georgia and a resident of Etowah County for 50 years. He is survived by 2 sons, H.D. Adkinson, Atlanta, Georgia and Paul Adkison, Gadsden, Alabama; 3 daughters, Mrs. Frank Simmons and Mrs. Acton Dyer, both of Gadsden and Mrs. Thomas Patton, California; a brother, Oscar Adkison, Atlanta, Georgia; 3 sisters, Mrs. Savannah Swift, Rockmart, Georgia; Mrs. Limma Hayes and Mrs. Beatrice Self, both of Atlanta, Georgia; 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
