After extensive research, a memorial for William Thomas Malone or Nancy Jane Payne Malone not located. Memorials created in their honor to document research and preserve our family history for future generations.


Records not located on Wm Thomas Malone after 1860. However, a newly discovered son Henry H...born about 1869-1870...indexed age 10 in 1880 census. However, actual record clearly is 13. This information narrows his year of death to about 1868 but before 1870 census. Nancy Malone is found still living in Hiawasse (location of mines) Polk County Tennessee.


Postulate William Thomas Malone died in a mining accident and his body not recovered. Or he was buried in Hiawasse Mines Cemetery. The name of this cemetery was changed to Davis Cemetery. History of the cemetery reveals that the cemetery collapsed due to the mines beneath it. For many years, the cemetery closed off and not accessible due to this problem.
