Mrs. Anne Cook Neal passed away on Thursday, April 19.

The daughter of Annie Colson and Oscar Edward Cook, she was born April 4, 1931 in Washington County.

A graduate of Tennille High School, she attended Berry College in 1952 and later received graduate degrees from the University of Georgia after several years of work with the USDA and the UGA Extension Service. The last 19 years of her career were spent as teacher at Brenau University.

Mrs. Neal was a member of Gainesville First United Methodist Church, where she was a charter member of the Mission Action Group in 1965, was active in the Intercessory Prayer Group and taught youth Sunday School for over 40 years.

Mrs. Neal was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Oliver Neal and her sisters, Mary Joyce Cook Folds (#61085034) and Doris Cook Dickey.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Joyce and Mark Shoemaker; son David Neal; grandsons Charlie, Ned and Perry Shoemaker; brother and sister-in-law Hoyt and Ida Neal; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Service of Death and Resurrection will be held at Gainesville First United Methodist Church chapel at 11:00 am on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 with Rev. Scott Hearn officiating. The family will receive friends after the service in the Gathering Room.

NOTE: The body is bequeathed to the Medical College of Georgia. A memorial marker will be placed in the Neal family plot at the Ebenezer Methodist Church in Franklin County.
