Kathryn Murphy, age 94, died peacefully on Friday, May 28, 2021, at Barclay Friends Senior Living Community in West Chester, PA. Kay was born on September 26, 1926, in Scranton, PA. to Prof Aloysius P. Walsh and Virginia Walsh. She was married to John Joseph Murphy on December 27, 1952, until his death on January 27, 1990. Kay graduated as Valedictorian from St. John's HS, which earned her a four-year academic scholarship to Marywood College. She graduated cum laude and was awarded the Philosophy Medal, Marywood's highest academic honor. She also served as Senior Class President for the Class of 1948. Kay is survived by her seven children: her six sons, Michael Murphy, Jay Murphy, Dr. Patrick Murphy, Tim Murphy, Brian Murphy, Christopher Murphy and her one daughter, Mary Kay Russell; fifteen grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. The viewing and funeral services will be held at St. Gregory's Catholic Church in Clarks Green, PA. at 10:00 am on Friday, June 4th. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Arrangements are under the care of the Eugene A. Cusick Funeral in Scranton, PA.
