Mrs. Phoebe Jane Reed of Saxton, R.D., died unexpectedly at her home on Wednesday, August 29, 1973, at 3 a.m.

She was born Jan. 26, 1907, at Stonerstown, a daughter of Edgar [Edward] and Bertha (Evans) Batzel. She was united in marriage to Charles C. Reed on Aug. 17, 1928, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 5, 1968.

She is survived by three children: Mrs. Margaret Short, Shippensburg; Glenn Reed, Saxton, and Mrs. Cleo Moffat, Malverne. Sixteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren also survive, along with two brothers and one sister: Edgar Batzel, Dudley; John Batzel, Baltimore, Md., and Marie Houp, Dudley.

She was a member of the Church of God.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 1, at 10 a.m. at the Masood funeral chapel, Saxton. The Rev. Daniel Brumbaugh will officiate, and interment will be made in Grandview Cemetery, Saxton. Friends will be received at the funeral home after 7 p.m., Friday.
