Joe was a 1955 graduate of Warren High School. Shortly after high school, he joined the United States Air Force and was stationed at Larson Air Force base in Grant County, Washington. Upon his discharge from the Air Force, Joe began working for Pepsi Cola, subsequently, he began working for Boeing, then long-haul trucking, and finally local log truck driving. He spent almost 60 years in the trucking industry before retiring in 2019. In his free time, Joe enjoyed being in the outdoors, hunting, grilling, keeping his yard in top shape, and spending time with family. He is a member of First Free Will Baptist Church of Warren, AR.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Billy Armstrong, a sister, Ruth Armstrong, and daughters, Nena Myers and Lynn Crocker.
Joe is survived by his wife Nelda Thompson Armstrong, whom he married October 1, 1987, children, Terri Taylor, Rick Armstrong (Christine), Toni Armstrong, Kelly Joe Armstrong (Jody), Kelly Thompson (James), and Roxanne Adkins (Steve), brother Hershel Armstrong (Catherine), sisters Frances Neal and Deborah Carpenter (Randy), 18 grandchildren, and 27 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, June 4th, 2021, at First Free Will Baptist Church, 1007 E. Church, Warren, AR 71671, officiated by Pastor Ricky Rauls.
