Sunday, November 6th, 1938 – Tuesday, May 25th, 2021

Gene R. Miller, Sr., 82, left this earth for his heavenly place on May 25, 2021. He was born on November 6, 1938 to Curtie and John Miller, in Tensaw, Alabama. He had 1 brother and 3 sisters.
He went to school in Bratt then in Pensacola. He joined the Air Force but had to return home to care for his family after his dad developed Tuberculosis.
He worked as a truck driver until an injury while unloading airplane tires forced him to retire. He did rod and reel repair in Pensacola and saddle repair in Pace. While a part of Search and Rescue as a boat captain, Gene was awarded the E. E. McGovern Award for Outstanding Service. He also volunteered at ARC Santa Rosa where he organized a Rodeo for handicapped adults. He was a Thirty-second Degree Mason and was awarded Mason of the Year four times.
Gene was an avid dog lover, racoon hunter and bass fisherman! For the last fifteen years, he had a worm farm, where he developed and sold worms for bait.
He loved God and was a faithful churchgoer until his health would not allow it anymore.
Gene is preceded in death by his father, mother, brother, two sisters, a daughter, and a grandson.
He is survived by his wife, 9 children, 21 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was loved by many and he always had a story to tell.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, June 1 at 10:00 am at Elizabeth Chapel Community Cemetery, in Chumuckla.
