Born January 8, 1942, in Allens Mills, she was the daughter of the late Robert D. and Edna E. (Moore) Mowrey.
On September 7, 1961, in Cumberland, Maryland, she married John S. Reed, whom she met square dancing. He survives. She would have celebrated 60 years of marriage with her sweetheart this September.
Carol graduated from Brockway High School. She was a homemaker in her own home. Carol was a member of the Paradise Church of Christ, Paradise Women's Service Group, Beechwoods 4-H, Henderson Grange #1315, and Pamona Grange. In addition, she was a member and past secretary for PPMA. Carol sang in the church choir for many years. She enjoyed sewing and quilting. Carol was noted for her beautiful penmanship.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Diane L. (Michael) Carlson, DuBois, Valerie J. Walker and her fiancé, Scott Solnosky, Reynoldsville, Dean S. (Sandra Penvose) Reed, Reynoldsville, Vickie J. (Thomas) Rafferty, Youngwood, PA, and Brent J. (Kenni Steffy) Reed; ten grandchildren, Tonya Hughes, Matthew Carlson, Adam and Bradley Walker, Rachael Walker-Hiles, Daniel and Amanda Reed, Hope and Tony Buskirk, and Amanda Sonnie; two step-grandchildren, Emily (Ryan) Walker and Joshua Solnosky; thirteen great-grandchildren, Payton Hiles, Ryan and Kendall Hughes, Wyatt, Kutcher, and Josie Reed, Wesley and Oakley Walker, Sydney and Madelyn Sonnie, and Kylie, Abby, and Alice Mulholan, and her siblings, Ed Mowrey, DuBois, Walter Mowrey, Reynoldsville, Allen Mowrey, Reynoldsville, and Glenda Thompson, Reynoldsville.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, James Mowrey and Norma Jean Strouse, and her son-in-law, Douglas Walker.
A Service of Remembrance will be held Saturday, June 26, 2021 at 11 a.m. from the Paradise United Church of Christ with Rev. Barry Fillman officiating. Interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Adamson Funeral Chapel and Crematorium.
