Norman James Currie Sr., 59, of Boiling Spring Lakes died Monday, February 3, 2003, at his residence.

Currie was born May 8, 1943, in Baltimore, son of the late Joseph A. and Helen Kowalski Shea, and moved to Boiling Spring Lakes during the spring of 1991 from Churchville, Maryland. He had served in the Merchant Marine and was a retired self-employed home improvement contractor.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Irene McMillion and is survived by his wife of 43 years, Janet Sliwinski Currie of the home; two daughters, Deborah Ann Neal of Monroe, North Carolina and Lori Patricia Funk of Boiling Spring Lakes; a son, Norman James Currie Jr. of Columbia, Md.; a sister, Dolores Karcz, also of Baltimore; two grandchildren, Hillary Davis and Victoria Currie; friend John McComas and family of Baltimore.

Graveside rites were held at a later date at Holy Rosary Cemetery in Baltimore. Memorial contributions may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, P. O. Box 987, Shallotte, NC 28459.
