Ricky Thomas Wallace, 63, of Roanoke passed away Saturday, May 8, 2021, after a long fight with pancreatic cancer. He died peacefully at home, surrounded by family, secure in his faith and the promises of Jesus Christ. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles T. Wallace.

Rick is survived by his mother, Norma (Harry) Jarrett; sons Charles Wallace, Braden (Katlyn) Wallace and Austin Wallace; sister Cheryl (Ricky) Howell; stepsister Leigh (Barton) Reynolds and stepbrother David (Linda) Jarrett. He is also survived by his best friend of 46 years, Mr. Tommie Crozier, who was like a big brother to him.

Rick will long be remembered for his generous heart – kind, slow to anger and quick to forgive. He poured himself into his three sons and supported them in all their endeavors, especially their participation in baseball, soccer and football. He was extremely proud of the men his boys became.

Rick was a graduate of Northside High School and was a past chief and life member of Roanoke County Fire and Rescue Squad #5 (Hollins). Rick proudly worked for Roanoke Electric Steel/Steel Dynamics for 40 years. He enjoyed NASCAR, country music, hunting and fishing.

The family will receive friends on Monday, May 17, 2021 from 5 to 7 PM at Simpson's Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road. A private service will be held on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 officiated by Pastor Scott Obenchain.

The family is appreciative of the wonderful care they received at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center and Carilion Hospice. Their expert care and loving-kindness made the journey easier. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.
