Colyer, Pennsylvania - Richard Michael Burke, 86, of Colyer died on Friday, May 21, 2021 at home.
Born October 10, 1934, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of Michael and Catherine (Youngworth) Burke.
In addition to his wife Ann, he is survived by his children Mary Ann Sesler (Scott); Richard Burke Jr (Marilyn); Patty Klinefelter (Jeff); Janet Shackelford (Bill); Robert Burke; Raymond Burke (Nicole); and stepson Jonathan Phillips (Claire). Grandchildren include Daniel Wagner; Josh Wagner (Teki); Melissa Totani (Ian); Laura Gifford; Matthew Klinefelter (Kristin); Beth Klinefelter; Kim Klinefelter; Sarah Misko (Michael); Michael Shackelford, Cara Shackelford, McKenna Burke, Max Phillips and Eva Phillips plus 12 great grandchildren. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife Joanne and an infant son Michael.
Dick graduated from North Catholic High School and from what is now Robert Morris University. He worked as an accountant at several health care facilities in the Pittsburgh area, coming to State College in 1972 to work at Centre Community Hospital. Dick served as Senior Vice President of Fiscal Affairs at the hospital, retiring after 30 years of employment.
Dick was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in State College.
His interests include cheering on Penn State and his hometown teams the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates. Dick was known as a vocal supporter as anyone watching alongside him will attest! Along with his support for sports came a fondness for animals particularly dogs as he had several four-legged companions throughout the years.
Visitation at the Koch funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton Street, State College, PA 16801 will be held on Wednesday, May 26, from 12 to 1:30 pm. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm with Pastor Scott Schul officiating. Interment will be at Pine Hall Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Pets Come First, Paws or Grace Lutheran Church.
Arrangements are under the care of Koch Funeral Home, State College.
