Ruth Newton Green, 75, of Lawndale, passed away on Saturday, May 22, 2021, at Hospice at Wendover, Shelby.
Born in Cleveland County, on May 10, 1946, she was a daughter of the late Hazel Newton and Mazell Ward Newton.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. James Ray Green; two sisters, Kathy Newton Parker and Faye Newton Parker; and a sister-in-law, Janice Newton.
She is survived by her son, Jimmy Green of Lawndale; two grandsons, Zach Green and wife, Karlie of Green Mountain and Dr. Alex Green of Ashville; two great-grandchildren, Jasper and Kennedy Green; brother, Arnold Green, and wife, Anne of Shelby; and sister, Jo Nell McNeilly, and husband, Jack of Lawndale.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 25, 2021, from 1:00 Pm to 2:00 PM at Lawndale Baptist Church. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 25, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Lawndale Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Kilby officiating. A private burial service will follow in the Rose Hill Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Hospice Cleveland County, 951 Wendover Heights Drive, Shelby, NC 28150, or to Lawndale Baptist Church, PO Box 126, Lawndale, NC 28090.
