On May 18, 2021, William D. Fritts, 88, of Fredericksburg, Virginia passed away after a short illness.

Bill, known to his family as Bubba or Dub was born in Lenoir City, Tennessee on October 10, 1932. He attended Clemson University and played football there. He moved to Northern Virginia in 1957 to take a job working for National Airlines. After a 37-year career with the airlines, he retired and spent 16 years delivering flowers for Reston Florist, retiring again to care for his mother-in-law.

While living in Northern Virginia, Bill met Johndora Hundley, and they married in 1964. They moved to Sterling, Virginia and lived there happily for 53 years until Johndora's passing in 2017. Most recently, Bill moved to Fredericksburg to be closer to more of his family.

Bill was a man of many interests. He loved watching sports, most notably Clemson football, cow pasture pool (golf) and the Washington Nationals. He also loved to paint. He was proud of the fact that he had traveled to 32 countries. He was a faithful Christian and read his Bible each morning. Most importantly, he loved his family and delighted in talking with them daily.

He is survived by his sister Shirley Fritts Bonneville, his numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins as well as dear friends. Bill was preceded in death by his wife Johndora, his parents George and Mary Fritts, his in-laws John and Teak Hundley and siblings John, Ralph, Blanche, Clyde, George Jr., Mildred, Helen, Elizabeth, Elaine, Betty, Rose, and Charlotte.

A service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 26 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 27 in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton, WV.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Humane Society or a charity of your choice.
