A self-taught musician, Charlie enjoyed playing the guitar and harmonica up until the day before he passed away. He spent many years playing country music for local events and other social occasions with his life-long friend Dr. Dan R. Smith. His love of music had a profound effect on his sons who are all self-taught guitarists. Charlie was a great father and a gentle man who always put his family's needs before his own.
