Mrs. Betty Ruth Galyean Atkins, age 81, of Dobson, NC passed away at Northern Regional Hospital in Mt. Airy, NC on Thursday, May 20, 2021.

She was born in Surry County on September 2, 1939, to the late Foy Galyean and the late Lona Rose Lowe Galyean.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson Martin Brady Sizemore, and her sister Lora Jean Lowe.

Surviving is her husband, Woltz Gray Atkins; daughter and son-in-law, Kim Atkins-Bruner and Benny; son and daughter-in-law, Kevin Gray Atkins and Nicole; grandchildren, Emily Grace Bruner, Graylyn Harper Atkins, Andrea Paige Sizemore; brother and sister-in-law, Dwain and Wilma Galyean; special niece, Lisa Lowe Miller, and several other nieces, nephews, neighbors, friends, and brothers and sisters in Christ.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM, Sunday, May 23, 2021, in the chapel of Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson, with burial to follow in the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. David "Buster" Sechrist will officiate the services. Her body will lie in state at Moody-Davis Funeral Home on Sunday from 2:00 PM until the time of her service at 3:00 PM. The family has requested in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Brady Sizemore Memorial Foundation, 416 Branch Dr. Dobson, NC 27017.
